The time has come to start actively exploring opportunities for next summer.  Regardless of the position or place of work, you will gain insights about your career interests, and add transferable skills. Listen to the stories of the people you work with  – what motivates them?   It is as valuable to learn about what you don’t like – in a job or work environment – as what you do like.

Consider the advice offered by the CEO of The Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi reflecting on his summer job an orderly at a lock-down psychiatric ward:  I believe that each new professional opportunity provides a set of doors waiting to be opened if you are open to possibility, relentless in your desire to learn, and committed to hearing those around you.   Click here to read his LinkedIn article.

So, get going.  Be realistic about your qualifications. Research, ask questions, prepare your resume and cover letter and apply.
