Before you have even taken off your coat after arriving home for winter break, you will likely hear one of two questions. Either: “WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO THIS SUMMER?!” or “WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO AFTER YOU GRADUATE?!” The cap-locks and ratio of question marks to exclamation points may vary, but the essence of the question will be consistent: What are your plans?
Now you can tell them confidently and truthfully that you have a list of positions you plan on applying to while you are home, and you won’t have to worry about coal in your stocking for saying it. eBEAR has a great feature that you may not know about: “Favorites”. This is simply a list of the positions you like. It is just like a “favorites” list in Twitter. There are two ways to “favorite” a posting:
1) Log in to eBEAR from a laptop, desktop or tablet device. Find a position you like. Click “Favorite” in the upper right corner of the posting. Screen shot below (click to enlarge):
2) Log in to eBEAR from your mobile device via the “Job Search” app from experience (what is that?) and highlight the star next to a position you like. Screen shot below:
It is that east! Access your favorites list on your desktop/laptop/tablet under the “Jobs & Internships” menu. You then have a clear list of which applications you need to do- and you will likely get your applications in before the deadline through this method. Getting an application in early is always best. Many positions are filled on a limited “rolling basis” and applications are reviewed as they are received as opposed to after all have been received. That means the employer might already know who they are interviewing before the deadline.
The favorites list will make it easy for you to separate browsing for positions and applying for positions. Also, browsing via the mobile app means you can now look for jobs while you wait for your plane or train to arrive, or for the inevitable family political argument to resolve itself.
Enjoy your break, and good luck in your job or internship search!
